The hits just keep on coming.
My sources confirm reports that the following CBS shows have gotten the ax. For your consideration, I have put them in a list from most shocking to “yeah, knew that was happening”:
* Old Christine
* Ghost Whisperer
* Gary Unmarried
* Accidentally on Purpose
* Cold Case
* Miami Medical
* Numb3rs\
Yikes. Talk about cleaning house. But here is your bright side: Rules of Engagement and Medium both got renewed. Also, there is still hope that Ghost and Christine might be picked up by ABC.
Poor Jennifer Love Hewitt. But there just might be a plan B for her. I talked to Greg Grunberg yesterday about becoming a series regular on the new NBC rom-com Love Bites. J.Love is guesting in the pilot episode as a free pass for Greg’s character: She’s on the list of celebrities he’s allowed to sleep with. “I end up in a bathroom on a plane with Jennifer Love Hewitt,” he tells me. “I can’t tell you what happens, but it’s very funny. She, by the way, is the greatest.” Perhaps she’ll be back on the show after the mile-high situation?
Love Bites is going to have a revolving door of guest stars each week, so this slew of cancellations could mean grabbing up new characters. Who else should that show pick up from the depths of unemployment? CBS is not commenting on these updates, but we won’t have to wait long. CBS upfronts are tomorrow, and I’ll be there to feed you updates. Meanwhile, head to the comments and rant until the shock wears off.

Episode 522: The Children’s Parad // Broadcast Date: May 21st, 2010
As Melinda investigates a poltergeist in the hospital, the mystery touches on a much bigger source of danger, and a final showdown looms with the forces from the dark side of the spirit world threatening Melinda and her family.
THE CHILDREN’S PARADE was written and directed by Creator/Consultant John Gray. He dedicates this episode in memory of his mother, Betty Gray (1924-2010), whom he lost during the filming of this episode.
This episode guest stars: Billy Unger as Pete (Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles, Desperate Housewives); Joey King as Cassidy (CSI, The Suite Life of Zack and Cody); Tammy Townsend as Jacqueline (Sherri, Lincoln Heights); George Wendt as George the Plumber (Family Guy, Saturday Night Live); Asante Jones as Stuart (Strong Medicine, Dexter); Peter Holden as Darren (Scrubs, 24); and Rebecca McFarland as Joan (Saving Grace, Two and a Half Men).
Jennifer is scheduled to be a co-host on “The View” on Wednesday, May 26th! The show airs on the ABC network, so make sure you check your local TV listings for air times in your area!
Television viewers will get more than they bargained for with the news that NBC has picked up the show Love Bites. One of the new comedy’s episodes features the unlikely scene of Greg Grunberg joining the Mile High Club … with Jennifer Love Hewitt.
“It was crazy,” Grunberg confesses to PopEater. “But if you have to be stuck with someone in a bathroom that size, it might as well be Jennifer Love Hewitt,” he adds. “I’m no petite guy, and it was really tight quarters.” Grunberg jumped at the chance to work with Hewitt for the first time. “She’s the greatest. I have a small list of people whom I love working with, and she’s on that list. We were dreaming, saying we should do a series together,” he said.
The racy subject matter got the folks on the set talking. “I mentioned I hadn’t joined the mile-high club and then someone on the set said they were sort of in the club, but not from the bathroom,” recalls a still-outraged Grunberg. “I was like, ‘How do you do that on the plane?'” Grunberg says he’s not a member and doesn’t plan to be. “Those bathrooms are disgusting and tiny. It’s people working down a checklist really. That’s what it comes down to.”
Even though the scene was shot on a fake plane set, it was still way too small for the “Heroes” star. “This movie plane bathroom had removable walls, and I was still claustrophobic,” says Grunberg. “We were like, ‘How do people do this?'”

Episode 520: Blood Money // Broadcast Date: May 7th, 2010
When three young college kids stumble onto a stash of buried cash, they unearth more than a windfall. Turns out they’ve literally stirred the bones of a long-dead kidnapping victim — and angered not only a vengeful ghost but a dangerous criminal who still wants the money.
BLOOD MONEY was written by Executive Producers P.K. Simonds and Laurie McCarthy; it was directed by Eric Laneuville.
This episode guest stars: Sean Marquette as “Henry” (CSI, Foster’s Home for Imaginary Friends); Wes Robinson as “Greg” (Arrested Development, American Dreams); Trevor Morgan as “Danny” (Law & Order, CSI Miami); Mary Gordon Murray as “Marion Allston” (Nip/Tuck, CSI); Justin Shilton as “Det. Jeff Colson” (Melrose Place, Buffy the Vampire Slayer); David Clennon as “Carl” (Grey’s Anatomy, Saved); and Arjay Smith as “Scot” (Navy NCIS, 24).
What is the future of Ghost Whisperer? Despite being that chimera known as a solidly performing Friday night network drama, CBS is said to be pondering a Friday night reshuffle.
Interestingly, as Ghost Whisperer is co-owned between CBS Studios and ABC Studios, the upshot might be that Ghost Whisperer might drop off of CBS’s schedules and resurface on ABC’s, resulting in a strange echo of last season’s Medium network switcheroo.
The ratings have sunk this season, but the fact is that none of the broadcast networks is doing well on Friday nights this year, and Ghost Whisperer is pulling in okay if unremarkable ratings. There seems to be less of a chance that Ghost Whisperer will be canceled outright, than that CBS will rethink Fridays and leave the show without a berth.
Ghost Whisperer, currently in its 5th season and on the far side of its hundredth episode, is doing well in domestic and international ratings and continues to pull a following, as does its brand-made Medium, but given its longevity and success in reruns, it wouldn’t be difficult for network execs to decide it has run its course. Medium, wholly owned by CBS Studios and normally keeping all of its Ghost Whisperer lead-in, is slightly more likely to stay on the CBS network, but if CBS decides to shake up Fridays, it’s likely both shows will be closed out.
From About.com
After twenty years in showbiz, Jennifer Love Hewitt has learned a few lessons about taking her appearance to the next level. “Elizabeth Taylor taught me that after you get ready for the day — after you do your hair and makeup — you’re supposed to take a hot bath because it brings out your inner glow,” the Ghost Whisperer star tells me. “I always do that before I go out.”
Turning 31 inspired her to change up her style. “I’m trying to be a bit more glam this year — even my lingerie choices tend to be a little more glamorous, just from within,” she admits. “I tend to go pretty comfortable. I’m a jeans and t-shirts kind of girl. I dress casual for comfort.”
The actress has been linked to Jenny McCarthy’s ex John Asher, 39, after amicably splitting from co-star Jamie Kennedy. The Day I Shot Cupid author shares her advice for single gals in NYC and beyond. “Be careful,” she says. “Run for your life. Drink lots of cosmos, go to the spa and have really close girlfriends.”
