Party of Five costars Jennifer Love Hewitt and Lacey Chabert are trying to collaborate on a Christmas movie, Hewitt revealed in an exclusive interview with Parade.
“I’m her biggest supporter. She’s the queen of Christmas,” Hewitt said of Chabert. “I just watched [her movie] Hot Frosty, which I loved, on Netflix, and I loved the Haul Out the Holly movies [on Hallmark].”
Hewitt is, of course, a rising Queen of Christmas herself. She stars in and directs the upcoming Lifetime movie The Holiday Junkie (Hewitt’s self-appointed nickname) and one need only to glance at her Instagram feed to know she’s a fan of all things festive.
“I watch 40 or 50 [Christmas movies] a year, if I’m being honest,” the Ghost Whisperer actress, who was on hand to launch Ferrero Rocher’s “Add Your Golden Touch” holiday campaign, told Parade. As for Chabert’s movies, she’s watched every last one of them. “I’m always rooting for her,” she said.
The two starred together in Party of Five, which aired from 1994 to 2000, for almost its entire run, with Hewitt playing Sarah Reeves (Bailey Salinger’s girlfriend) and Chabert playing Claudia Salinger.
Hewitt doesn’t have an exact idea in mind for their potential reunion. “I just know that I think we should play sisters,” she told Parade. “For years, everybody’s always thought that we look very similar. I think that would be really fun, to play sisters at Christmas.”
“We need people to send all the things,” Hewitt said. “Netflix, send it our way, we’re ready. Yeah, we want to do something together, and I think that would be really fun.”
As if that wasn’t gift enough to Party of Five fans, Hewitt went on to reveal that she and Chabert are each other’s biggest cheerleaders. When the trailer for The Holiday Junkie came out, Chabert “was the first text on my phone, saying, ‘I’m crying. I’m so proud of you. You’re in the Christmas space, yay,'” Hewitt shared. “And I always text her pictures of me in my bed watching her new movies when they premiere. I just love her.”

Movies News
Sony Pictures’ I Know What You Did Last Summer recently cast a batch of newcomers to its sequel, which already included Chase Sui Wonders and Freddie Prinze Jr. set to reprise his role. But the studio has yet to confirm whether OG star Jennifer Love Hewitt, who has been in talks to return for a while now, is going to be back as well.
Parade put the question to Hewitt herself last week, when the actress was on hand to promote a new partnership with Ferrero Rocher. “We’re so close, that’s all I’m gonna say,” she told Parade in an exclusive interview. “I feel like the actual audience now is like, ‘What are you waiting for, huh?'” she added, referencing her famous line from the original movie.
Not surprisingly, the holdup is in part related to scheduling. “It’s such a delicate thing, because we’re trying to deal with the 9-1-1 schedule and the movie schedule, so we’re just trying to figure it out and make it happen,” Hewitt said.
Above all, she wants to make sure that if she returns, she has enough of a role for her comeback to be satisfying to fans.
“If I’m going to come back 27 years later, I don’t want to just be in it for five seconds, like, I don’t want it to just be like that thing that’s like, ‘Oh, well, there’s the ghost of I Know What You Did past, here she is,'” she told Parade. “So I want to be able to carve out time to really be in it for people and to have it matter. So we’re working on it. We’re so close. The announcement will be so exciting when it happens, for me as well, and I’m hoping it’s soon.”
Freddie Prinze Jr.’s reprisal was confirmed back in September, despite him having described his experience on the original movie as “miserable.” According to the ’90s heartthrob, director Jim Gillespie never wanted to cast him in the movie in the first place (he wanted to hire Jeremy Sisto), and he took it out on the young actor.
“There was no passive aggressiveness—which I hate—he was very direct in the fact that, ‘I don’t want you in this movie,’” Prinze told Too Fab. “So when that’s your first job and you hear those words, it just wrecks you, man. It just wrecks you.”
According to Prinze, Gillespie would often give him cruel notes or ignore him altogether.
“It was very difficult waking up in the morning—or in the afternoon, because we shot a lot of nights—and go to work with the right attitude,” he said. “…He made it a point to single me out every time, would bring the other actors together without me, and give them all notes. And I’m like, well was he just trying to do some method crap? I just don’t understand.”
For her part, Hewitt told Parade that she “wasn’t aware that Prinze had a bad experience.”
“I thought we all had a great experience,” she said. “I know for me, it was great. I loved being there. I felt so lucky to be 18 and be in a movie and get to do what I love and have that experience.”
Regardless, she said, “[Prinze] seems fine now because he’s back and that’s great. And, yeah, it wasn’t my experience. I had a great time. And it has a very special place in my heart.”

Interviews
Jennifer Love Hewitt is a self-proclaimed “holiday junkie,” so it stands to reason that she married a man (actor Brian Hallisay) who knows his way around a Christmas gift.
“He is a great gift giver, he’s very thoughtful,” the 9-1-1 actress, who was on hand to launch Ferrero Rocher’s “Add Your Golden Touch” campaign, told Parade in an exclusive new interview.
Last year in particular, she continued, “he blew my mind.”
The ’90s icon went on to explain how he found her a piece of vintage jewelry, which she collects, with a very specific and special meaning.
“He found this vintage ring that [was engraved with] my birth date and birth month, but from the year of my mother,” Hewitt recalled. “It was February 21, 1945 and engraved on it was 2-21-45, so it was like we were together somehow, and he found it, and I just melted. It’s just my favorite. I don’t wear it very often because I don’t want anything to happen to it. But it was really just amazing.”
Hewitt’s mother died in 2012, when Hewitt was 33 years old, and the Ghost Whisperer star writes about the gravity of that loss in her upcoming memoir, Inheriting Magic: My Journey Through Grief, Joy, Celebration, and Making Every Day Magical.
The book also chronicles how she and Hallisay met, started a family and “took my mom’s magic and turned it into our everyday magical intention,” she told Parade. Ultimately, the book ends by showing how Hewitt became “The Holiday Junkie.”
“[It explains] why that makes me so happy, and how I use my mom’s magic in my own life every day, and really how it helped me sort of transform the grief that was sitting on my heart to grief that’s now in my heart as I move forward.”
The memoir’s release coincides with the premiere of Hewitt’s Lifetime movie The Holiday Junkie, which she stars in alongside Hallisay, and directs.
“He really had a lot of trust in me,” Hewitt said of their collaboration (she also directed him in an episode of The Client List, the Lifetime series that brought them together more than a decade ago).
“He’s not a Christmas movie guy…he likes Christmas movies, but he doesn’t, like, sit and watch them all on television like I do,” she added. “I watch 40 or 50 a year, if I’m being honest—with my daughter, and we see everything. So he was like, ‘Look, this is your world. This is what you love, tell me what to do here. What does the Christmas Movie Guy do? How’s his vibe?’ and all that stuff. So it was really fun. He put a lot of faith in me. He’s so tremendous in this movie. It just made me so happy. I hope he’s in all the Christmas movies after this one. He’s so dreamy.”
