Jennifer Love Hewitt is showing her heart for the community as Los Angeles faces devastating wildfires. Through her Love Angeles Collection, created with BFFs and Babes, she’s teaming up with Baby2Baby to make a real difference for families impacted by this crisis.

The wildfires, including the massive Palisades and Eaton fires, have already burned through more than 62 square miles, leaving destruction in their wake. Tragically, at least 16 lives have been lost, and 16 more people are still missing. With over 150,000 residents forced to evacuate, and thousands taking shelter wherever they can, the need for support is greater than ever. Fire crews are battling tough conditions, including high winds and dry terrain, as they work tirelessly to contain the flames.

Amid all this, Baby2Baby, a nonprofit dedicated to helping children in need, has stepped up in a big way. They’ve already distributed 1.5 million emergency supplies, like diapers, formula, food, and water, to help those who’ve been displaced. Now, Jennifer Love Hewitt is pitching in to support their mission. A portion of sales from her Love Angeles Collection will go directly toward providing even more critical supplies to the families who need them most.

Jennifer took to Instagram to share her passion for this cause, encouraging her followers to get involved. Her words were heartfelt, and her message clear: Together, we can make a difference for these families during such an unimaginable time.

Interviews

Wehad the pleasure of interviewing Jennifer Love Hewitt. Jennifer is an American actress, singer, and producer whose career spans more than three decades. She emerged as a child performer, gaining early recognition through TV commercials before joining the cast of the Disney Channel series Kids Incorporated (1989–1991). Her breakout role came as Sarah Reeves Merrin on Fox’s popular teen drama Party of Five (1995–1999), cementing her status as a household name among young audiences.

Hewitt’s transition to film was marked by her role as Julie James in the teen horror classic I Know What You Did Last Summer (1997) and its sequel. Her portrayal of the vulnerable but resilient heroine became iconic within the genre. She also starred in the teen comedy Can’t Hardly Wait (1998), showcasing her versatility and strengthening her appeal as a leading actress of the late ‘90s.

On television, Hewitt gained critical acclaim for her role as Melinda Gordon on CBS’s Ghost Whisperer (2005–2010), where she played a woman with the ability to communicate with spirits. Her work on the show earned her two Saturn Awards for Best Television Actress. Later roles included starring in The Client List, for which she earned a Golden Globe nomination, and her current role as Maddie Buckley on Fox’s 9–1–1.

Parallel to her acting career, Hewitt pursued a musical path, releasing four studio albums. Her debut album Love Songs (1992) found success in Japan. In 2002, her album BareNaked, produced by Meredith Brooks, reached number 37 on the U.S. Billboard 200. Her single “How Do I Deal” from the I Still Know What You Did Last Summer soundtrack also charted in the U.S. and Australia.

In addition to acting and music, Hewitt ventured into producing and writing. She executive produced several of her TV projects and co-created a comic book series, Jennifer Love Hewitt’s Music Box (2009–2010). Her 2010 dating advice book The Day I Shot Cupid became a New York Times bestseller.

More recently, Hewitt collaborated with Ferrero Rocher for the “Add Your Golden Touch” holiday campaign and has been developing lifestyle and creative projects tied to her personal brand, The Holiday Junkie. Her deep commitment to family and creativity continues to shape her professional and personal life.

Thank you so much for doing this with us Jennifer! Our readers would love to get to know you a bit better. Do you have a funny story or a funny mistake that you made when you were first starting out in your career, and was there a lesson you learned from that?

Jennifer Love Hewitt: Oh my gosh, I’m trying to think… Okay, this is really silly, but when I was doing Sister Act 2, I got invited to Whoopi Goldberg’s house for a swim party. This is so embarrassing — I’ve never told this story, but it’s perfect for this.

So, I got invited, and my mom was like, “You know, you’re going with the cast and everything, so you’ve got to bring something.” We picked up Pizza Hut pizzas because it was the ’90s, and that was very popular. I also brought my own little towel, which really shows the time period — it was a Spuds MacKenzie towel. If you’re young, you might not know what that is, but if you’re older like me, you know who Spuds MacKenzie is.

Anyway, I showed up at the house, and there were the nicest, softest towels ever, plus towel warmers. There was even a chef making food for everybody! I was mortified. I was like, “Mom! I cannot walk in with this Pizza Hut pizza. This is so embarrassing!” But my mom was like, “You will walk in there because you are not showing up empty-handed. Whoopi’s going to get it!”

So I walked in there with my little towel, my jelly flip-flops, and the Pizza Hut pizzas… and guess what everyone ate first?

The pizza! Pizza Hut! BOOM! That’s right.

At first, I was horrified, but years later, I went on The View, and I saw Whoopi. She remembered it! She was like, “Do you remember when you brought Pizza Hut pizza to my pool?” I was like, “Oh my god.” She said, “I loved you so much for that because I knew you were raised by a good mom.” I was like, “Aww.” So embarrassing!

December 15, 2024   Jennifer   Comments Off on Jennifer Love Hewitt Says Daughter, 11, Has ‘Big Dreams’ to Be on a Disney Show
Interviews

History is repeating itself for Jennifer Love Hewitt.

On Nov. 11, the actress’ daughter Autumn earned her SAG card at age 10, just like Hewitt did 35 years ago. “I had this flash of my mom handing me my card at 10 years old,” Hewitt tells PEOPLE in this week’s issue. “I was dying, it was so cool.”

Even cooler? Autumn earned the card by acting alongside her mom on 9-1-1, the TV drama on which the Party of Five alum has played 9-1-1 dispatcher Maddie Han since 2018, and The Holiday Junkie, her mom’s new Lifetime Christmas movie also starring her dad, Brian Hallisay, 46, and two brothers Atticus, 9, and Aidan, 3.

While Autumn — who turned 11 on Nov. 26 — is off to a strong start in the industry, Hewitt also has some trepidation about her daughter rushing into an acting career, due, in part, to her own experience as a teen idol in the ’90s.

“She’s a really happy, secure, amazing kid, and I want her to stay that way,” she says. “I think it would be good for her to wait a little bit, but she has big dreams of being a star on a Disney show, and she’s a very good manifester. I just may have to get out of the way like my mom did.”

When she was 10, Hewitt moved to Los Angeles with her late mom Pat — who died of cancer at 67 in 2012 — after her star quality attracted attention in their native Texas.

“From the time that I was super little, I was very aware that entertaining was something that made people happy, and I loved making people happy,” she says. “My mom, I don’t think she would’ve chosen this for me, but she got out of my way and let me follow my dreams.”

After booking roles in commercials and on Disney Channel’s Kids Incorporated, Hewitt broke through when she joined Fox’s teen drama Party of Five in season 2 as Sarah Reeves in 1995.

Two years later she cemented her status when she landed the role of final girl Julie James in I Know What You Did Last Summer.

“My daughter is now aware that I was a big part of the ’90s, so she’s like, ‘Oh my gosh, you were the ’90s, you’re back again,’ ” Hewitt recalls. “I’m like, ‘All right, that makes me feel really old.’”

As her star continued to rise in her teens and 20s, viewers began to look at Hewitt as a sex symbol, the implications of which she didn’t quite grasp at the time.

“I was pretty innocent,” she says. “I didn’t know anything about my sexuality, yet I was on the cover of Maxim…I just knew that as I went along, the outfits at the photo shoots got smaller. Now I look back on it and go, ‘That’s intense.'”

As her three kids grow up, Hewitt — who also gives insight into her family life in her new book Inheriting Magic: My Journey Through Grief, Joy, Celebration, and Making Every Day Magical — is happy they’ll have her and her husband as role models.

“Me and Brian have been together almost 13 years; that’s like 190 years in Hollywood,” Hewitt jokes. “I’m proud of that. I’m here to give them all the advice I’ve got, and so is their daddy.”
